The second is the Rookie division - same idea as the beginner division without the age restrictions. Rookie players tend to have no more than a year of tournament experience and are allowed some flexibility in testing the waters of competitive paintball. Rookie players are allowed to play in local events but once they achieve certain accomplishments - must move up the ranks. The NEPL Jr events are held five times a year and are all held at Boston Paintball's Outdoor Field in Maynard Ma. The events are all one day events and spectators are always welcome to come on down and watch the games. There is a preliminary round of games then there are semi-finals and then finals. Beginner teams do take home trophies at each event (1st - 4th) and Rookie teams will earn points towards prizes as well as trophies.
Teams may play one event or all 5 -they do NOT need to commit to a season, Registration is open all year long for each event - and deadlines are roughly 4 days before an event.
Beginner Division Details:
Teams are allowed to roster up to 4 players. Players must be ages 10-15 ONLY. This division is a limited paint division meaning that teams will be restricted to shooting a predetermined amount of paint per game. The goal of this is to 1) give parents an EXACT idea of cost 2) keep costs LOW and 3) teach new players how to win games without shooting case upon case to do it. Restricted paint will make new players better players, and teach them the basic fundamentals of the game. No need for endless amounts of paint, or fancy tournament equipment. Each team will play a minimum of 8 games per event.
COST: $295 per team

Rookie Division Details:
Teams are allowed to roster up to 4 players. Players may be any age 10 or over and there are no limits on paint. Players may have prior NEPL experience but may only have played beginner, rookie or D4 novice without ever having made playoffs. Teams may pre-pay for event paint in this division for as low as $35 a case. Teams that make the top 4 at each event will earn points which they may redeem after each event for prizes, or they may accumulate points through the season and earn better prizes (including cash). Each team will play a minimum of 8 games per event.
COST: $149 per team / $35, $45 or $55 paint (prepaid) or $40, $50 $60 paint (at event)
